Introducing: the very latest advancement in laser vision correction

Refractive vision correction is one of the greatest achievements of our time. Lifestyle, safety, performance and productivity are all improved with independent vision. 3rd generation ReLEX SmILE takes that to the next step.

Logan Eye Institute is one of the only centers in Utah with the capability to perform SmILE, and the first to bring this elegant vision procedure to Northern Utah.

Here is something to SmILE about

ReLEx® (REfractive Lenticule EXtraction) SmILE (SMall Incision Lenticule Extaction) is the very latest, 3rd generation, laser vision correction procedure, used to treat nearsightedness an astigmatism. This treatment is available in only a few laser eye surgery clinics in the United States, and provides LASIK accuracy of vision correction, without a flap, but with superior dry-eye and post op subjective vision recovery.

Similar in concept to advanced LASIK, SmILE utilizes the latest in ultra-precise laser technology to gently correct vision. During the procedure, harnessed light is used to sculpt a thin, contact lens-shaped layer, which is removed through a microscopic surface connection. This means a sensationless, rapid vision restoration procedure.

Comfortable. Fast. Elegant.

All the benefits of LASIK – rapid healing and very little discomfort – but now without having a corneal flap. This means the preservation of the upper corneal layers and the possibility for fewer transected nerves may preserve biomechanical stability and reduced the incidence of transient dry eye syndrome.

EVERY DETAIL MATTERS

Few Centers in the United States take such an in-depth, detailed approach to ocular imaging and assessment you'll experience on the day of your evaluation.

None of these studies are painful. In fact, they are like cameras, each designed to inform your surgeon and eye care team about every aspect of your eyes, from the rods and cones in the retina, to the optical properties of the cornea.

AN EXPERIENCE FOCUSED ON YOU

You will also undergo a detailed consultation with your surgeon, describing all of the potential risks and benefits for your particular situation, and to determine which procedure is optimal for you.

AS UNIQUE AS YOUR FINGERPRINT

Like a fingerprint, each cornea is unique. Because no two eyes are the same, LASIK may not be the procedure of choice for everyone.

At Logan Eye, we take a highly customized, tailored approach to the unique vision needs of each individual.

Logan Eye is one of the few centers in the country that offer not only SmILE, but the full-spectrum of safe, effective modern alternatives to LASIK including

Advanced Surface Ablation
Visian ICLs
Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE)
SmILE
KAMRA Near Vision Inlays

These procedures allow us to take a safe, custom tailored approach to the features of each individual's anatomy and vision needs. Safety, anatomic variations, unique vision needs, consideration of development of future technologies all play a role.

Individualized planning, and high customization is one of the hallmarks of the approach Logan Eye Institute, and one of the secrets to our outcomes.

More about technology
ReLEx SmILE

The most advanced laser platforms on the planet.

  • The most advanced laser platforms on the planet.

SmILE is performed on the state-of-the-art Zeiss VisuMax® femtosecond laser, the first and only vision-correcting laser in the world sensitive enough to perform this revolutionary procedure. The VisuMAX has set the industry standard for high precision, proven outcomes and predictability.

  • A class by itself.

VisuMax delivery system is opto-electronic; all other femto systems use opto-mechanical design.  This revolutionary engineering allows far greater positional accuracy, putting VisuMax in a class all by itself.  No other femtosecond laser is capable of the spatial accuracy necessary for ReLeX SmILE. Logan Eye is only one of the few centers in the United States using this remarkable technology.

  • Single step.

With ZEISS ReLEx SmILE, the entire correction is performed as a single-step: one laser, one treatment plan and one laser process.

  • Minimally Invasive.

ReLEx SmILE corrects vision almost entirely within the cornea itself. The result is fewer cut corneal nerves, no corneal flap, less haloes and less post-operative dry eye.

  • Why is VisuMax the best laser in its class?
    • More precise than any other femtosecond laser with positional accuracy ~3 microns rather than >6 with other, older femtosecond systems
    • Delivers better results at lower total energy outputs because the laser energy (fluence) is lower and more focused
    • Smart Bed treatment of the VisuMax is extremely sophisticated, helping maintain the perfect, gentle contact pressure optimal for flap creation
    • Curved contact surface employs a curved contact surface when rendering treatment to closely match the curve of the natural cornea
    • Much lower pressure than with all other femto systems and microkeratomes that is usually is accompanied by temporary loss of vision (a few seconds) — creating a better, more comfortable patient experience
    • For the engineers reading this description, the VisuMax delivery system is opto-electronic; all other femto systems use opto-mechanical design. This significant design difference allows greater positional accuracy and puts VisuMax in a class by itself. No other femto laser is capable of the spatial accuracy necessary for ReLeX SMILE.

Affordability

The Logan Eye Team is as proud of our financing as we are of our vision results and high-touch service. If LASIK is right for you, we believe covering the cost of the procedure shouldn’t jeopardize your ability to receive the highest quality vision correction procedures available anywhere.
